Rosen Method Bodywork Practitioner
Elaine Conder is a certified Rosen Bodywork Method practitioner, licensed massage therapist, and level III Reiki practitioner. She has over 25 years of experience and during this time her work has evolved into an integrative practice that is based on the Rosen Method, while sometimes bringing the grounding, soothing support of Reiki and nurturing massage into sessions when needed. The intention of her work is to assist clients in feeling more accepting, aware, and authentically alive in their bodies. Her practice is strengthened and supported by her commitment to her own deepening / reclaiming of embodiment and her continued study of somatic approaches to healing trauma.
Elaine’s interest in somatic therapy began during massage school (Santa Fe, New Mexico 1990- 1991) with an introductory course in the Rosen Method. During a required first session of the work, the gentle touch of a skilled Rosen practitioner invited Elaine into her body in a way she had never experienced. As she was supported in feeling areas of chronic muscle tension, her awareness deepen into a forgotten place where she encounter a more authentic self….one she had lost access to during a lifetime of unconsciously holding down, holding back, and disconnecting from self. This single, liberating Rosen session set the course for Elaine’s personal and professional life. She went on to study at the Somatic Therapy Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and then, some years later, to continue both her educational and self-exploration journey through the Rosen Bodywork intensive training track in Berkeley, California. This training spanned over four years and included experiential learning, supervisions, and mentorship. She studied extensively with Marion Rosen, founder of the Rosen Method as well as with other gifted and experienced Rosen teachers.
Elaine lives in Missoula, Montana where she maintains an integrative bodywork practice at the Red Willow Center for Health and Healing. She works individually and collaboratively with local health care professionals to assist people in reclaiming greater physical and emotional ease by coming home to their bodies. She facilitates body awareness workshops and retreats in the Missoula area. She has assisted and co-taught Rosen Bodywork intensives and introductory workshops in the western United States and Canada.
